Nipplewort

Nipplewort (Lapsana communis) is a plant of the composite family (Asteraceae). Are forming a small flower heads on branching stems to 90 cm tall. Cabbage field grows in both cultivated and uncultivated land, such as along roads, dikes, in forests and against walls.


There are only ribbon flowers, yellow in color. The head has a diameter of 1.5 to 2 cm. There are small carpels to flower, linear and obtuse.


The flowers are langgesteeld. It forms a loose panicle of heads. The flowering period is from June to August / September.


The lower leaves are lyre-shaped spring piece and have a great end slip. The upper leaves are lanceolate.


Nipplewort carries a nut with ribs and without her crown.


The leaves of cabbage fields can be used in salads are light and laxative.
